Tái wān de jī chē fēng jǐng

Mó tuō chē tōng cháng zài dōng nán yà guó jiā chū xiàn de pín lǜ jiào gāo, dàn nǐ zhī dào tái wān shì quán yà zhōu mó tuō chē mì dù zuì gāo de guó jiā ma?

    The Scooter Scenery in Taiwan

Scooters are usually more commonly seen in Southeast Asian countries, but do you know that Taiwan is the country with the highest density of scooters in Asia? In Taiwan, it is one of the necessary transportations for many families. Whether it is in the metropolitan area or remote area in Taiwan, scooters can be seen everywhere, which is the reason why Taiwan is the country that comes to mind for many people when scooters are mentioned.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Transport of Taiwan, there are currently more than 14 million scooters in the nation while the population is only 23 million. In other words, more than half of the population own a scooter. Many foreigners wonder why there are so many scooters when they arrive in Taiwan. This might be associated with the terrain and the climate of Taiwan, since Taiwan is a narrow island and the weather is pleasant in all seasons. It does not snow in winter and it is warm in summer, so riding a scooter in Taiwan is not only comfortable but also convenient and, for many people, a cheap way of getting around. Additionally, it is one of the special memories for those who grew up in Taiwan. As a result, scooter becomes an important part of Taiwanese culture.

Conversely, after living in the UK for 3 years, it is rare for me to see a scooter now. Usually, there are only motorcycles or scooters for delivery staff. In the UK, it often rains and snows heavily and it is also difficult to obtain a driving license for locomotive in the UK; therefore, most people decide to drive or take public transportation instead.
