    🌱 Positive Guidance and Consistent Support | Amy Tsai’s Bilingual Education Approach (Part 2)

    Throughout my teaching journey, I have always believed that positivity and stability are the most gentle yet powerful forces in nurturing growth.

    🌱 Why Do Students Need a Teacher Who Is Consistent and Steady?


    1. Consistency is Key During Developmental Years.
    For primary and secondary school students, having a tutor who understands their learning pace and can accompany them over time makes a tremendous difference.

    For example, a Primary 6 student preparing for the PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination) might excel in reading comprehension but struggle with composition writing. For such students, I adjust the lesson plan to focus on:

    • Building structured writing exercises
    • Enhancing vocabulary and sentence construction
    • Practicing real-life scenarios to boost confidence in expressing ideas clearly

    🎯 For secondary school students aiming for the Integrated Programme (IP) or other advanced tracks, the pressure to perform well can be intense. My approach is to balance structured practice with guided discussions, allowing students to reflect on their progress and feel more in control of their learning journey.

    🎯 For those preparing for international school applications, the focus is on communication skills. For instance, I worked with a student preparing for an entrance interview. Rather than rehearsing standard answers, we focused on crafting responses that were genuine, well-structured, and reflective of the student’s unique experiences and strengths.

    This kind of consistent, steady support helps students build confidence and resilience over time, enabling them to perform well not just in exams but also in life’s unpredictable moments.


    2. Creating a Safe Space for Young Learners to Thrive.

    For younger children, a steady teaching routine fosters a sense of security, encouraging them to explore, make mistakes, and grow.

    One of my students began online classes at the age of four. Initially, she could only sit still for 30 minutes before losing focus. Instead of insisting she sit still, I adjusted the lesson plan:

    • First 15 minutes: Interactive, game-based learning to cover essential content
    • Next 15 minutes: Songs, storytelling, and playful activities to reinforce learning

    Over time, as she became more comfortable, we extended her focus time to 45 minutes, then to an hour. Today, she not only completes her lessons but often asks, “Can we play one more game?”

    Such progress is the result of intentional lesson design and the trust and patience of parents who believe in their child’s potential and the teacher’s guidance. 💖


    3. Staying Prepared for Key Opportunities.

    For students aiming for international school applications, scholarship interviews or leadership roles, having a teacher who is ready to provide timely and targeted support is invaluable.

    I once worked with a secondary school student preparing for a scholarship interview. Over several sessions, we focused on:

    • Practicing impromptu speaking
    • Structuring responses to common interview questions
    • Delivering answers with confidence and clarity

    By the time the interview day arrived, she was prepared to walk in with confidence, not because of last-minute cramming but because of the steady, consistent support she received over time.

    走在教育這條路上,我始終相信:「正向」與「穩定」是推動成長最溫柔、卻也最有力量的方式。
    Zǒu zài jiàoyù zhè tiáo lùshàng, wǒ shǐzhōng xiāngxìn:`Zhèng xiàng’yǔ `wěndìng’shì tuīdòng chéngzhǎng zuì wēnróu, què yě zuì yǒu lìliàng de fāngshì.

    Amy顧問是個樂觀且穩定的人,同時,科柏斯的制度設計也非常穩定。

    1. Wèishéme xuéxí xūyào yī wèi zài shìyè yǔ shēnghuó zhōng dōu bǎochí wěndìng zhuàngtài de lǎoshī?

    世界不停在變,但學習可以成為一種穩定的力量。
    成人學員常常在課後和我分享,他們每週在職場上遇到的挑戰、在家庭裡的變化,甚至生活裡那些不可預期的小插曲。而我們的穩定出現,成了他們生活裡的一種支持。

    Shìjiè bù tíng zài biàn, dàn xuéxí kěyǐ chéngwéi yīzhǒng wěndìng de lìliàng.
    Chéngrén xuéyuán chángcháng zài kè hòu hé wǒ fēnxiǎng, tāmen měi zhōu zài zhíchǎng shàng yù dào de tiǎozhàn, zài jiātíng lǐ de biànhuà, shènzhì shēnghuó lǐ nàxiē bùkě yùqí de xiǎo chāqǔ. Ér wǒmen de wěndìng chūxiàn, chéngle tāmen shēnghuó lǐ de yīzhǒng zhīchí.

    即使其他事情讓人煩心,來到課堂的那一兩個小時,可以暫時跳脫自己的角色與壓力,用另一種語言、用不同的視角去討論世界,看見自己的學習成長。
    Jíshǐ qítā shìqíng ràng rén fánxīn, lái dào kètáng dì nà yī liǎng gè xiǎoshí, kěyǐ zhànshí tiào tuō zìjǐ de juésè yǔ yālì, yòng lìng yīzhǒng yǔyán, yòng bùtóng de shìjiǎo qù tǎolùn shìjiè, kànjiàn zìjǐ de xuéxí chéngzhǎng.

    這種感覺,對很多學員來說,是一種療癒,也是一種健康的情緒出口。
    Zhè zhǒng gǎnjué, duì hěnduō xuéyuán lái shuō, shì yīzhǒng liáo yù, yěshì yīzhǒng jiànkāng de qíngxù chūkǒu.

    成長中的孩子,更需要長期穩定的陪伴。

    幼兒園、小學、中學階段的孩子,成長的速度驚人。

    Yīnwèi wǒ xiāngxìn: Měi gèrén dōu yǒu zhídé fāguāng dì dìfāng. Wǒ de juésè bù zhǐshì yǔyán gùwèn, gèng shì péibàn zhě. Wǒ huì zhǎo chū xué yuán de qiángxiàng, zhīchí tāmen miàn duì tiǎozhàn, cóngzhōng jiànlì chéngjiù gǎn, zài jiāng zhè fèn dònglì yánshēn dào wèilái de xuéxí lǚchéng zhōng.

    💡 有一位從四歲開始上線上課的小女孩,前五堂課,每次上到三十分鐘就開始坐不住了。
    我們很樂意讓她在鏡頭前蹦蹦跳跳,同時也靈活調整課程節奏:

    💡 Yǒuyī wèi cóng sì suì kāishǐ shàngxiàn shàngkè de xiǎo nǚhái, qián wǔ táng kè, měi cì shàng dào sānshí fēnzhōng jiù kāishǐ zuò bù zhùle.
    Wǒmen hěn lèyì ràng tā zài jìngtóu qián bèng bèngtiào tiào, tóngshí yě línghuó tiáozhěng kèchéng jiézòu:

    前半堂課邊玩邊學,把重點內容紮實帶過,後半堂則用遊戲、唱歌、故事閱讀來練習語言。
    Qiánbàn táng kè biān wán biān xué, bǎ zhòngdiǎn nèiróng zhāshi dàiguò, hòubàn táng zé yòng yóuxì, chànggē, gùshì yuèdú lái liànxí yǔyán.

    孩子漸漸習慣後,我們就慢慢拉長她專注的時間,調整成「靜態-動態-靜態-動態」的課程設計。
    Háizǐ jiànjiàn xíguàn hòu, wǒmen jiù màn man lā cháng tā zhuānzhù de shíjiān, tiáozhěng chéng `jìngtài-dòngtài-jìngtài-dòngtài’de kèchéng shèjì.

    如今,她不僅能專心上完一小時,還常常到了結束時間捨不得下課,興奮地希望再多玩一個遊戲!
    Rújīn, tā bùjǐn néng zhuānxīn shàng wán yī xiǎoshí, hái chángcháng dào liǎo jiéshù shíjiān shěbudé xiàkè, xīngfèn de xīwàng zài duō wán yīgè yóuxì!

    ❤️ 這背後除了是課堂設計的細膩調整,更來自家長對孩子的耐心與信任,相信孩子可以做到,也相信老師和教學團隊會持續帶來改變。

    Zǒu zài jiàoyù de lùshàng, wǒ shǐzhōng xiāngxìn:`Zhèng xiàng’yǔ `wěndìng’shì tuīdòng chéngzhǎng zuì wēnróu, què yě zuì yǒu lìliàng de fāngshì.

    Duì xiǎoxué hé zhōngxué de xuéshēng lái shuō, yǒuyī wèi shúxī tāmen xuéxí jiézòu, néng chángqí péibàn de jiājiào lǎoshī, néng dài lái mòdà de bāngzhù.

    例如,一个准备 小六离校考试 (PSLE) 的小学六年级学生,可能在阅读理解方面表现出色,但在写作表达上却相对薄弱。针对这样的学生,我会灵活调整课程,将重点放在 写作技巧训练上:
    Lìrú, yīgè zhǔnbèi xiǎo liù lí xiào kǎoshì (PSLE) de xiǎoxué liù niánjí xuéshēng, kěnéng zài yuèdú lǐjiě fāngmiàn biǎoxiàn chūsè, dàn zài xiězuò biǎodá shàng què xiāngduì bóruò. Zhēnduì zhèyàng de xuéshēng, wǒ huì línghuó tiáozhěng kèchéng, jiāng zhòngdiǎn fàng zài xiězuò jìqiǎo xùnliàn shàng:

    • 引导他们进行逐句表达练习
    • 提升词汇选择和句式结构的运用
    • 通过真实场景的模拟练习,提升他们对写作任务的自信

    • Yǐndǎo tāmen jìnxíng zhú jù biǎodá liànxí
    • Tíshēng cíhuì xuǎnzé hé jù shì jiégòu de yùnyòng
    • Tōngguò zhēnshí chǎngjǐng de mónǐ liànxí, tíshēng tāmen duì xiězuò rènwù de zìxìn

    而对于 中学 学生,他们可能正在为 国际学校入学面试 做准备。我会专门设计课程,帮他们提升 口语表达和自我介绍 的能力,让他们能用 逻辑清晰、条理分明 的方式展现自己。
    ér duìyú zhōngxué xuéshēng, tāmen kěnéng zhèngzài wèi guójì xuéxiào rùxué miànshì zuò zhǔnbèi. Wǒ huì zhuānmén shèjì kèchéng, bāng tāmen tíshēng kǒuyǔ biǎodá hé zìwǒ jièshào de nénglì, ràng tāmen néng yòng luójí qīngxī, tiáolǐ fēnmíng de fāngshì zhǎnxiàn zìjǐ.

    这种长期且一致的支持,是孩子们逐渐建立起学习自信、克服挑战的重要途径。
    Zhè zhǒng chángqí qiě yīzhì de zhīchí, shì háizǐmen zhújiàn jiànlì qǐ xuéxí zìxìn, kèfú tiǎozhàn de zhòngyào tújìng.


    2. 在稳定中培养专注力与学习兴趣。
    2. Zài wěndìng zhōng péiyǎng zhuānzhù lì yǔ xuéxí xìngqù.

    对于年龄较小的孩子来说,稳定的教学节奏能带给他们安全感,让他们敢于表达、敢于犯错。
    我有一位四岁开始上线上课的小女生,刚开始时,她只能专注 30分钟,很快就坐不住了。
    于是,我调整课程设计:

    Duìyú niánlíng jiào xiǎo de háizǐ lái shuō, wěndìng de jiàoxué jiézòu néng dài gěi tāmen ānquán gǎn, ràng tāmen gǎnyú biǎodá, gǎnyú fàncuò.
    Wǒ yǒuyī wèi sì suì kāishǐ shàngxiàn shàngkè de xiǎo nǚshēng, gāng kāishǐ shí, tā zhǐ néng zhuānzhù 30 fēnzhōng, hěn kuài jiùzuò bù zhùle.
    Yúshì, wǒ tiáozhěng kèchéng shèjì:

    • 前15分钟: 以游戏为导向的学习活动,逐步传授重点内容
    • 接下来的15分钟: 通过唱歌、讲故事的方式巩固学习

    • Qián 15 fēnzhōng: Yǐ yóuxì wéi dǎoxiàng de xuéxí huódòng, zhúbù chuánshòu zhòngdiǎn nèiróng
    • Jiē xiàlái de 15 fēnzhōng: Tōngguò chànggē, jiǎng gùshì de fāngshì gǒnggù xuéxí

    随着课程推进,她逐渐能够专注 45分钟,最后延长到 一小时。如今,她不但能够完成整堂课,还常常兴奋地问:”我们可以再做一个游戏吗?”
    Suízhe kèchéng tuījìn, tā zhújiàn nénggòu zhuānzhù 45 fēnzhōng, zuìhòu yáncháng dào yī xiǎoshí. Rújīn, tā bùdàn nénggòu wánchéng zhěng táng kè, hái chángcháng xīngfèn de wèn:”Wǒmen kěyǐ zài zuò yīgè yóuxì ma?”
